The Control Program
The SmartStartup Wizard
Thermo Fisher Scientific recommends that you equilibrate the chromatography system with a special equilibration program before starting sample analysis. The SmartStartup Wizard assists you in creating such a program and allows you to define the necessary equilibration steps. You may extract these steps from an existing program or use the current instrument settings, instead.
The wizard is supported for the Summit, UltiMate 3000 and Vanquish HPLC systems (excluding nano and capillary modules), and the following IC systems and modules: ICS-3000, ICS-5000, ICS-Series Photodiode Array Detector, ICS-Series Variable Wavelength Detector, and AS-AP Autosampler.
The SmartStartup Wizard includes the following steps:
Step 1: Select a Timebase (if no timebase is selected in the current window)
Step 2: Extract the equilibration conditions
Step 3: Edit the equilibration conditions (optional)
Step 4: Start equilibration
After you exit the wizard, the following events occur:
Chromeleon generates an equilibration program and sample.
A Control Panel opens. The control panel, which contains one stripe for each device, displays the status of the equilibration.
The Start Batch on …? dialog box opens. The equilibration sequence appears at the top of the Batch list.
When you start the batch, system equilibration begins. When the equilibration is successfully completed, Chromeleon begins processing any other sequences in the batch.
However, if a batch is currently running, the equilibration sequence cannot run immediately, and thus the equilibration panel is not opened automatically. Instead, the following events occur:
Chromeleon adds the equilibration sequence at the end of the batch list.
After you have created the equilibration sequence, the Delay Equilibration Sequence? dialog box opens. Specify the date and time for the equilibration procedure.
